'The Shopaholic Series Week' Day 5 - Shopaholic & Baby by Sophie Kinsella

Friday 24 January 2014

Becky's life is blooming! She's working at London's newest fashion store The Look, house-hunting with husband Luke (her secret wish is a Shoe Room)... and she's pregnant! She couldn't be more overjoyed - especially since discovering that shopping cures morning sickness. Everything has got to be perfect for her baby: from the designer nursery...to the latest, coolest pram...to the celebrity, must-have obstetrician.

But when the celebrity obstetrician turns out to be her husband Luke's glamorous, intellectual ex-girlfriend, Becky's perfect world starts to crumble. She's shopping for two...but are there three in her marriage?
I had a feeling that this book would have something to do with the cliff-hanger that was dropped in Shopaholic & Sister, though even from the first page I could just tell that this book would be just as great as all of the other ones.

This is the five book in The Shopaholic Series, Shopaholic & Baby follows on from the cliff-hanger that was in the last book. Becky Bloomwood has just found out that she is pregnant, she is going on another journey that is full of bumps along the way. (Pun-intended)

Becky and Luke are excited about having a baby, that is until Becky meets Luke's ex-girlfriend who is also Becky's obstetrician. Becky wanted the best person to deal with her pregnancy, it turns out that the best person and most expensive may still have feelings for her husband, even after all these years.

So, when she starts to cause trouble for the couple, Becky starts to question Luke feelings for her and what exactly is Venetia up to. Though the event can't go passed without some drama and knowing Becky there is some, following the theme of the last books Becky decides to tell a little white lie and then has to deal with the aftermath.

Though with everything leading up to the big day, everyone is feeling the pressure with Luke's business not going so well, Becky not knowing when to stop shopping for baby things and everything that is going on with her job as well. Then again, I think that this book really looks at Luke and Becky's life together as they handle everything that is going on in their lives. It is clear by the end of the book, that no matter what happens in their life, they are always going to be their for each other as family is what is most important after all.

Shopaholic & Baby has many hilarious moments that make this book such a joy to read, it has everything you could want in a book. The amazing friendship that Becky has with her best friend, her crazy family who are always there for her and her relationship with Luke that has many amazing moments that you get to see in this book and all the others as well.

I would recommend this great book to anyone who like drama, babies or just the crazy antics that Becky Bloomwood seems to have gotten herself into time after time.

My favourite quote from Shopaholic & Baby was:-
“Everyone keeps saying I’ll pick it up. But what if I don’t? I did algebra for three
years, and I never picked that up.”
