Review of My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult

About My Sister's Keeper-
The only way to save your daughter

Is to sacrifice her sister

Sara Fitzgerald's daughter Kate is just two years old when she is diagnosed with a rare form of leukaemia. Reeling with the helpless shock of it, Sara knows she will do anything - whatever it takes - to save her child.

Then the test results come back time and again to show that no one in their family is a match for Kate. If they are to find a donor for the crucial bone marrow transplant she needs, there is only one option: creating another baby, specifically designed to save her sister. For Sara, it seems like the ideal solution. Not only does Kate live, but she gets a beautiful new daughter; Anna, too.

Until the moment Anna hands Sara the papers that will rock her whole world. Because, aged thirteen, Anna has decided that she doesn't want to help Kate live any more. She is suing her parents for the rights to her own body.

My Sister's Keeper book is different from the motion picture that was made of it. The storyline in the book follows the lives of the Fitzgerald family and their dedication in helping their oldest daughter Kate fight leukaemia. The story is full of different emotions throughout this amazingly written novel, it is full of sadness, happiness and commitment that holds a family together.

The story is told in different points of view, there is Anna who is the youngest and also the daughter that was created to help her sister with a bone marrow transplant, Kate who is the oldest and has been unwell with leukaemia from the age of two. Sara who is Anna, Kate and Jesse's mother and also Brian's wife, Sara looks after Kate everyday. Brian works in the fire station when he is not in the hospital with Kate, Jesse is Kate and Anna's older brother. Campbell is the person Anna gets to defender her in suing her parents for the rights to her own body and Julia is her court guardian ad litem.

The story is set over a period of time, it covers some tragic events that happen to the Fitzgerald family. All the while dealing with a legal battle with Anna, Kate being even more ill than before, Sara fight to keep help child alive and the consequences of everyone actions. I though this book was a heartfelt story of a family, that includes sad times but also happier times that made you want to smile through the sadness of the book.

If I had to sum this book up it would be :- 'A powerful moving story that tugs at your heart strings with every line you read.'

This book is one of Jodi Picoult best books that have been made in to a motion picture.

If you are a fan of Diane Chamberlain then you will love this book.
