I was so excited to hear about Miranda Dickinson's new novel, having already collected her other books I couldn't wait for another amazing book by her. After reading the blurb I was immediately hooked by the story and couldn't wait to reading this book.

 

The story revolves around Nell Sullivan, a woman with a perfect job and happy life, someone who knew what she wanted out of life and would do anything to get what she wanted. In the first chapter you get to know Nell, along with her friend Vicky who she works with and when those two get together, they added humour to the beginning of the story making me thrilled to read more.

 

Everything was going so well in Nell's life but then in a split second everything that was Nell's life. She loses her job and also her boyfriend Aiden, what makes it worse is he is the one to tell her about her job. Then, suddenly everything she knew about her life became a mess before she even knew what was happening. Nell has always been the planning type, so she decides to change her life and forget about her planning and throwing caution to the wind. The wind being a trip to San Francisco, one she always wanted to go on but never had the time.

 

Though what Nell didn't know what that this trip would be so much more than just a holiday. Nell didn't plan on finding love in San Francisco, not ever in the form of Max Rossi, but as she grows to love this amazing city she falls for him as well. But how will she manage as she lives in London and Max lives in San Francisco, how will she leave him behind now.

 

Nell knew that not everything lasts forever, but her time with Max makes her see that it is good to be different and not follow a plan. Will going home change her mind about Max or will it be good for her, to make her realise that her home now is in San Francisco with Max. Sometimes you have to follow your own dream to be able to be truly happy and then everything else will fall into place.

 

Take a Look at Me Now is an amazing story about losing everything but gaining so much more in the process. If I had to sum this book up in three words, they would be Happiness, Humour and Exciting.

 

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves Sophie Kinsella and Lucy Dillon.

Miranda Dickinson has always had a head full of stories. Coming from a creative family where stories and songs were always present, it was perhaps inevitable that she would end up adoring words. A songwriter for over 15 years, Miranda has successfully penned over thirty songs, delivering both live and recorded performances in a range of venues across the UK and Europe. Her first solo project album, About Time is due for release this year. Miranda began writing in earnest four years ago with her first novel, Coffee at Kowalski's - a romantic comedy set in New York's Upper West Side.
