Europe? Nope. Mexico? Nope.
Key West?
Not me. This summer, I'm playing nursemaid to my sister. Yeah, I know. Relatively good looking twenty-two-year-olds don't spend the summer bedside in the cancer ward, but that's the plan - until my sister threatens me with bodily harm unless I get on the plane. That's when I met him. He likes me. Really likes me. But more than that, he loves my boobs -- like can't get enough. I have no idea how to tell him that they'll be gone soon. Courtesy of a preventative double mastectomy. Yep. That's what testing positive for the breast cancer gene mutation will do to a girl.
But don't feel sorry for me. I'm enjoying him, holding on until the last possible minute, while I muster up the strength to tell him, and watch him walk away.

Goodbye To You is a moving story that will make you think about life in a completely different way to before. Thea is having her last holiday with her best friends before she has a Double Mastectomy. Thea knows that this option will help in the long run, having already lost her mother to breast cancer and her own sister going through it now, she decide that this is the only way to deal with it. She knows that the process will not be easy but she is willing to sacrifice her happiness, just so she can still live.
Although, what she didn't expect was him...Shay, a handsome, funny, charming man and a doctor in training as well, all she was looking for was a bit of no string fun until she met him. Everything changed that day and the days that followed, exploring Key West and each other, they both did something they never expected to do, fall in love.
Shay has secrets of his own, secrets he has never talked about until he decides to tell Thea. He believes in fate, he knows that Thea is the one from the first moment he saw her across the bar and she only confirmed his theory when she doesn't treat him any differently after she find out the secret he has been harbouring for most of his life.
Thea decides that she will make the most of the last few days in Key West before she leave the place she had loved to explore and man she had come to love behind determined not to tell him her secret. Although, things never do seem to work out the way you plan them. Especially since Thea runs into Shay after avoiding him for the last two months, she knows that once she reveals her secret she will lose him forever, but she can't help but hold on to that perfect man for just a little longer.
I didn't know what to think after reading the blurb but it was an wonderful story full of sad moments and happy ones and about love and the secrets you keep from people you love just so you don't have to let them go. It shows a different side to love and how sometimes fate is there to give you a push in the right direction.
Goodbye To You is a life changing story that will make you want to cry, laugh with the characters and make you truly understand how precious life is and it is who you spend it with that truly matters. With its love, loss, problems and drama, this book will make you realise that love is important and it is the ones that keep coming back, that truly love you not matter what.
If I had to sum this book up in three words, they would be Heartbreaking, Amazing and Thoughtful.

I wrote my first
book at six. A retelling of The Three Little Pigs, illustrated by my
grandmother, the book was never picked up and was self-published instead, glued
to cardboard with a cover fashioned from wallpaper scraps.
Today, I write
stories featuring nice guys (or nice guys in-the-making) in between my other
jobs writing research reports for a commercial real estate company, refereeing
two young daughters, navigating the teen waters with a
too-cute-for-his-own-good son, spoiling a neurotic cat, and making my darling,
patient husband shake his head. I'm also an autism mom, chocolate enthusiast,
sports-watcher, nacho-eater, and beer-drinker.
A Maryland native, I live in North Carolina now, but dreams of the beach fuel my fantasties, and my characters can often be found strolling in the sand or sailing along a coast.

Thanks Sophie Kate, for your lovely review. (And I may have mentioned on Twitter, I love cupcakes, the more the better. Especially in a review!) I appreciate you taking time to read and post your thoughts. It means the world to me!
