A return to an idyllic Cornish holiday home - what could possibly go wrong?

It's twenty years since Miranda, then sixteen, holidayed in Cornwall and her life changed forever. Now she's back again - with her mother Clare and the ashes of her stepfather Jack, whose wish was to be scattered on the sea overlooked by their one-time holiday home.

The picturesque cove seems just the same as ever, but the people are different - more smart incomers,fewer locals, more luxury yachts in the harbour. But Miranda and Clare both find some strangely familiar faces, and revisit the emotions they both thought had disappeared.

I have never read a Judy Astley book before so I didn't know what to expect. Though from the first page I was hooked the story is perfectly written and set in summer which is perfect for this time of the year. When reading blurb about In The Summertime it is the type of book that I would read, I also found out that it is a sequel to one of Judy Astley's earlier books called 'Just For The Summer' that follows the story of a younger Miranda.

I have not read the first in the series but this particular book picks up with a a recap on Miranda's life over the years and covering all of the important part that would have been explained in the first book. There are many characters in the book, there is Miranda, Steve, Clare, Elliott, Jess and Andrew. The story picks up in Cornwall and is also many years later from the first book, the story mainly focuses on Miranda but the others are in the book as well as they are a big part of her life.

Miranda has two teenage children and has not long got divorced, her mother Clare has just become a widow, so they both are going through major change in their lives at that moment. So going to Cornwall seems like a good idea to take their minds of the horrible luck they have been dealt. Though going there is not what Miranda thought and she remembers what happened the last time so came to Cornwall over sixteen years ago. Old feelings are rising to the surface and old friends are turning up, but will it be a holiday to remember or a holiday to regret?

This story is amazing to read, one that I could read again to get you in the mood for summer and also give you to feeling of happiness and sunshine. I would recommend this book to anyone who liked the first book in this series and also anyone who loves a book that make you look forward to the summer.

My favourite character would be Miranda as all of the events that have happened in her life as very relatable to people. Also, she is a very likable character with the way she treats her friends and family.

If I had to sum up this book in three words, they would be Lovely, Amazing and Relatable. All of these things make the book a perfect read for this summer.
