Review of Have Yourself A Curvy Little Christmas by Sugar Jamison

Monday 6 January 2014

On the first day of Christmas, Dina Gregory, former wild child and prodigal daughter returns home to New York on a mission. Finding her young son’s father and making him take responsibility for the child he created is the only thing on her wish list. But instead of finding the man she was looking for she runs into his stuffy older brother Ben.

Ben has never liked Dina, but being trapped together on the holidays allows him to see a different side of her. She brings back his Christmas spirit and in the process reminds him what it feels like to love.  Dina’s past makes her wary of falling in love, but Ben is determined to make her stay as his permanent Christmas gift.

This is a perfect short read for Christmas with only 111 pages, it sounds lovely to get you in the Christmas spirit.

Even though this is a novella from a story called Perfect Fit, you don't have to read that book in order to understand this one. The story revolves around Dina, a single mother to a 10 month old little boy called Dash. The story starts with Dina trying to find her little boy's father, though it doesn't end up the way she hoped.

With him gone, Dina meets his brother Ben, who is alone and has been for quite a while. Ben has already experienced heartache more than once in his life. Though as the story progresses, Ben makes Dina a offer to make sure he gets to know his nephew, he will marry her.

Though Dina and Ben are complete opposites, Dina is loud and outgoing and Ben is quiet and still hurting from losing his wife nearly ten years ago. Then again, Christmas is a time for miracles maybe this will be one of them.

It is a Christmas story that makes you happy, sad, joyful and laugh. It will make you realise that Christmas is a time to take a chance and to be happy because after all its Christmas.

If I had to sum this story up in three words, they would be Joyous, Heartwarming and Christmassy.

Sugar Jamison is a southern belle trapped in a New Yorker's body. With a love of big hair and high heeled shoes, she spends her day at her very normal day job and night dreaming up sweet but sassy romances.
