Sunlounger 2: Beach Read Bliss - Day 5

Tuesday, 2 September 2014

Every weekend throughout August I will be reviewing stories from the new Sunlounger 2 book. There will be four reviews on each day (Saturday & Sunday), except for the last weekend that will have six on both days.
Note: Sorry its a bit late, I have been ill so many of my reviews have been late.

So, lets start with the next four books:

In Burgus - Emma Heard
Destination: Burgus

Melissa has been waiting ages for Jonathan to propose, so when they go on holiday Melissa is on edge waiting for the perfect moment, though it doesn't seem that simple. With every perfect moment, moving into the next Melissa is wondering if Jonathan will ever propose. In the backdrop Burgus, Melissa is thinking hard about the future and Jonathan is wondering what happened to the woman he fell in love with.
If I had to sum this book up in one word, it would be Spontaneous

Emma Heard was born in Devon, went to university in Bath to study psychology and then returned to Devon to train as a primary school teacher. For seven and a half years she has taught three and four year olds who keep her on her toes and have probably provided her with enough content for ten books! She lives with her fiancĂ© Steven and hundreds of lovely books and this is the first time she has ever entered a writing competition.

Midsummer Madness - Pernille Hughes
Destination: Denmark
Affie is running away from her life back home, having just broken up with her boyfriend, an escape is just what she needs. Having been in many relationships that started on holidays in the past, so the last thing she wants is another relationship to end like the last one. Running into Anders whilst on the beach wasn't part of her plan, he is smart, handsome and charming, Affie can't help but get drawn in by his charm. She promised herself, no more relationships but there is something different about Anders, something that is hidden beneath everything, the only problem is she was right, he was hiding something, something quite big, making Affie remember her decision to stay completely clear of holiday romances.
If I had to sum this book up in one word, it would be Exceptional

Pernille has had many words printed in The Sunday Times, most proudly the word 'boobs'. Seduced by the promise of freebies she took her first job in advertising, but left when Status Quo tickets was as good as it got. After a brief spell marketing Natural History films, she switched to working in Children's television which for a time meant living in actual Teletubbyland, sharing a photocopier with Laa-Laa. Now, she lives in actual Buckinghamshire, sharing a photocopier with her husband Ian and their four spawn. While the kids are at school she scoffs cake and writes in order to maintain a shred of sanity.

Summer Secrets and Surprises - Molly Hopkins
Destination: Corfu
I have to admit that I fell in love with this book, it was beautifully written and quite funny as well. Sophie decided that going to Corfu to experience Alex, her boyfriend's history, she had no idea what she was getting herself in for. Alex's family are lovely but she misses everything that reminds her of home, including her phone which doesn't seem to work unless you walk up a massive hill just to get a signal. With her friends and family not answering their phones, Sophie decides to try and do whatever possible to get back to the life away from the bugs, hills and terrible food.
If I had to sum this book up in one word, it would be Shocking.

MOLLY HOPKINS is the author of IT HAPPENED IN PARIS and the follow-on sequel IT HAPPENED IN VENICE. Her books offer a fantastic cocktail of hilarity, sex, fun and romance set against an ever-changing backdrop of exotic destinations. If you have enjoyed your time with Evie and Lulu in Molly's first two books, then read IT HAPPENED AT BOOTCAMP. With one meagre gym visit between them and an addiction for white wine and saturated fats, Evie and Lulu decide to get-in-shape with laugh-out-loud consequences.
Molly lives in Surrey and has two teenage children who have two smelly big dogs. She will never be a size ten again or give up gin and tonic.

Don't forget to check out some of Molly's books:-

The Star Man - Tony Horkins
Destination: Los Angeles

Luke came to Los Angeles to become a successful actor, the next best thing although things hardly go the way they are planned. Now, working as a tour guide, Luke still has that dream although it is slightly shadowed by the fact that he needs money to pay rent and being a tour guide is there just until his big break finally happens. With his ex-girlfriend Laura who told him to follow his dream, Sindy, his best girl who is a friend that works with him and Jennifer Lawrence who also work with him Luke's life is entertaining. (Not that Jennifer Lawrence, although if it were it would be very cool).
If I had to sum this book up in one word, it would be Dreamy

Tony Horkins is a London-born, Los Angeles-based journalist whose work has appeared in GQ, Elle, Marie Claire, InStyle, The Sunday Times, Observer, The Guardian and Empire. When he's not staring into a computer screen, he's riding her Triumph motorcycle through the Malibu canyons and playing drums for the country band Grant Langston & The Supermodels.
