When Ellie Hall lands her dream job running the little teashop in the beautiful but crumbling Claverham Castle, it’s the perfect escape from her humdrum job in the city. Life is definitely on the rise as Ellie replaces spreadsheets for scones, and continues her Nanna’s brilliant baking legacy.
When Lord Henry, the stick-in-the-mud owner, threatens to burst her baking bubble with his old-fashioned ways, Ellie wonders if she might have bitten off more than she can chew. But cupcake by cupcake she wins the locals over, including teashop stalwart, Doris, and Ellie’s showstopping bakes look set to go down in castle history!
Now all that’s missing in Ellie’s life is a slice of romance – can Joe, the brooding estate manager, be the one to put the cherry on the top of Ellie’s dream?
Ellie Hall is looking for a change, something that is the complete opposite to her life currently so when she spots a job advert she can't help but apply hoping that she gets the opportunity to show everyone what she is made of. So, she can't quite believe it when she gets a interview to run the teashop at Claverham Castle, but Ellie is thrown by the interview questions and ends up telling a couple of little white lies in regards to experience she has. Although it seems to work in her favour when she gets offered the lease on the beautiful tearooms. Ellie knows that it would be hard work but she didn't realise the time and money that would go into a small business like this, with staff to pay and food to buy she knows that she must make the tearooms a success.
Within days of living and working in Claverham Castle, Ellie starts to feel that she is out of her depth but she knows that she can't go back to the life she had before, she wants to prove it to herself and her family that she can make it work and make something of herself. Then again, working in the teashop isn't all bad especially with the handsome property manager that is in charge of the running of the castle. Although Ellie promised herself that after her ex-fiancée cheated on her she would stay well clear of men and focus on other things, but Joe Ward is different to other men, Ellie has no idea where she stands mainly due to his hot and cold behaviour but even then she has a feeling that she wants to get to know him as more than just her leaser of the tearooms.
Apart from her job running the teashop, Ellie becomes part of the small yet cosy family within the castle, they all accept her as one of their own and treat her as such, even Doris one of Ellie's waitresses that works in the teashop after Ellie made sure she stood up for the way she wanted to run her teashop. Ellie finally feels a home doing something that she loves and making something of herself in the process, she just hopes that she can make it last as she doesn't want to give up on her dream and prove to everyone that they were right.
The Cosy Teashop In The Castle is a brilliant novel, with its loveable characters and gorgeous setting that you could fall in love with, I know I did! It is a perfect spring read that will make you want to run your own teashop in a castle as I know that is how I felt as soon as I started reading this wonderfully written book.
