She’s escaped to a tropical paradise, but her past is going to find her.

Laura Robertson is working at a tropical resort on the Great Barrier Reef, biding her time and nursing her wounds when her ex-lover Phil Cooper arrives on Topaz Island. She’s betrayed him, broken his trust, and shamed herself. And yet it seems that he’s the one man she can’t let go.
She’s spent her whole life fighting to save the reef, and her time on Topaz Island fighting for her self-respect. Does she have enough fight left to fight for a second chance?

Laura is passionate about sea life and preserving it the best she and the environment can so when the funding on her marine biologist project gets cut, she is at a loss as to what to do to help the animals she was so close to helping and where she goes from here.
When the opportunity to work on Topaz Island close to the Great Barrier Reef she jumps at the chance, under the understanding that this job is just a small stepping stone before she find out how to get her project reinstated or funding from somewhere that is also passionate about sea life and the animals it houses.
Laura is enjoying her new job and being close to the Great Barrier Reef, although she don't expect her ex-boyfriend to show up at Topaz Island or to want her back in his life, that is a surprise that she can't imagine especially with her life uncertain, she doesn't know what the future holds.
Phil was Laura's everything once upon a time, that was until she hurt him and left without a word. Phil had forgiven Laura a long time ago but it is only now that he has come for her, he wants her back not just in his life but as the woman he wants to spend the rest of his life with but he has to convince her first.
As they spend more and more time together, they drift back into their old ways but Laura doesn't want to give up her independent life to fall back into one that she lived before, but to do that she needs help to convince others her passion and determination for the sea life that live in the ocean.
Second Chance Island is exactly that full of second chances, at love, at life, at hope and most definitely at a future which was once uncertain. It is a wonderfully written story that made me want to visit the island and see the miracle that is the Great Barrier Reef myself as it truly is amazing.

Magical, Hopeful and Brilliant
