Sadie White's summer job isn't going to be on the beach life-guarding or working at rental booths like most kids her age. With her single mother's increasing pregnancy and refusal to work, Sadie has to take over her mother's job as a domestic servant for one of the wealthy summer families on a nearby island.

When the family arrives at their summer getaway, Sadie is surprised to learn that the owner of the house is Jax Stone, one of the hottest teen rockers in the world. If Sadie hadn't spent her life raising her mother and taking care of the house she might have been normal enough to be excited about working for a rock star.

Even though Sadie isn't impressed by Jax's fame, he is drawn to her. Everything about Sadie fascinates Jax but he fights his attraction. Relationships never work in his world and as badly as he wants Sadie, he believes she deserves more. By the end of the summer, Jax discovers he can't breathe without Sadie.

My Review
Having been a fan of Abbi Glines since reading The Vincent Boys/Brothers, I decided to read Breathe with it being first in the Sea Breeze Series and the first book of Abbi's which I bought as well. Right from the start I loved Sadie, her character was not only down to earth but she was also relatable in many ways - from her drive to succeed and also her want to be like any other teenager yet working to help her pregnant mother with the bills prevents this from happening.
Jax Stone hasn't lived a normal life in a long time, though coming to his own private paradise every year to be away from the cameras and fame is needed with his schedule. Though what he doesn't expect to find is Sadie, working in his house, in front of him everyday teasing him without even realising it.
For Sadie she is working for Jax's for one reason to pay the bills, though that doesn't stop the attraction between them and just like every love story it has to have it's twists and turns. Sadie makes it clear that she doesn't want to be like all the other girls when it cames to Jax, she has too much in her life to go down that road yet they start spending time together and before either of them know it, life is reminding them to breathe so they don't miss the good parts.
The way the characters developed throughout the book make you want to keep reading to find out what happens. There a lot of secondary characters in the book from Sadie's mom to Jax's family and then the other staff at Jax's house. They were all unqiue in their own way and I also liked that there wasn't a character I disliked in this book, normally this has to be one. There were troubled characters defintely but that's who they were and those are the ones who needed people to help them, just like Sadie's mom needed Sadie throughout the book. Sometimes having someone is all the help you need.
Breathe is the perfect start to the Sea Breeze Series and quite fitting as I know I held my breath many times throughout the book to anticipate what would happen next. It is a book which is filled with drama, real life and how to make the most out of a summer romance after summer has ended.
If I had to sum this book in three words they would be Realistic, Heartwarming and Breathtaking. This book is a 5 star read!

Another day, another book,
