It was The Shopaholic Series that made me fall in love with the books that Sophie Kinsella writes. With this being the first book in the series, it starts off the whole series perfectly.  

 

Confessions of a Shopaholic is about Becky Bloomwood, a woman who has a love for fashion whether it is handbags or clothes. Though even with all the amazing things she has, she needs help on how to manage her own finances as she can no longer afford all of her nice things.

 

I like that the books started with a series of letters, it gave the readers more information about the events leading up to the first chapter and the mess that Becky now finds herself in. The story is set in the fabulous London, where everything is bigger and better in the big city.

 

With this being a chick-lit book it would be nothing without the romance between Becky and Luke, at first you couldn't tell if she was his type but after you look beyond the clothes and the credit card debt, Becky is an amazing woman who has a big heart, filled by people who are closest to her and who can stand her crazy spending sprees.

 

I was really excited when I seen that Confessions of a Shopaholic was being made into a movie, I think that the film really did do the book justice. Isla Fisher plays Becky Bloomwood perfectly, I could just imagine her when I read the book. I just wish that they would have made more to bring to life the other amazing books in this series.

 

If I had to sum up this book in three words, they would be Humorous, Dreamy and Shoptastic.(Okay, the last one may not be a word)

 

Confessions of a Shopaholic is an amazing book, full of funny moments, fabulous clothes and added romance. This is the perfect book for anyone who loves a chick-lit romance or shopping, or a bit of both.

“A man will never love you or treat you as well as a store. If a man doesn’t fit, you can’t exchange him seven days later for a gorgeous cashmere sweater. And a store always smells good. A store can awaken a lust for things you never even knew you needed. And when your fingers first grasp those shiny, new bags…”
